RS-232 cable for TER-GX330S

  • Q: Type of module? A: TER-GX330S
    Q: Firmware version? A: not sure
    Q: Type of starter kit you have? none

    I am trying to use RSTERM to talk to the module. I am using a real serial port, not a USB <--> Serial converter. So far I am not having much success. I suspect my problem is with the cable.

    I am using a simple cross-over cable:

    TXD <---> RXD
    RXD <---> TXD
    GND <---> GND

    Should I be using something else?

    Thanks

  • "use a normal serial cable, not a cross over."

    Sorry, in 30+ years in this industry I have never come across a "Normal" serial cable, which is why I asked. :D

    But I'll try a straight through cable.

    Other than the data pins, what other ones need to be used?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    As I mentioned use a normal cable and it will work.
    Note: for uploading script you need the handshake lines too.

    As I said, can you tell me what a "Normal" cable is?

    I understand; thanks.

    If only all serial devices I ever had to deal with were straightforward like this
