NanoTracker is another great product from Round Solutions. The basic function of NanoTracker is, like its name says, to track movement and speed. The other great thing about this product is that it is wearable. With 60x33x13mm dimensions it can easily fit in your pocket, can be carried on the key ring or can be easily attached to a dog’s necklace.
Not only that it can track movement, it can make notifications to you. For example the “Wellness” function. When NanoTracker hasn’t been moved for a certain period of time, it can send an emergency call to you.
Because its housing has one button for use, its usage can be for the “Panic button” function. By pressing the emergency button, you trigger a silent alarm which can make an emergency call.
If you define a geological location where NanoTracker should be, the device will notify you when it leaves its restriction. This “Geofencing” function is good for dogs, because NanoTracker can notify you, when the dog has left his ground and it will be easy to find him over GPS tracking.
Another great thing about NanoTracker is that its battery can last for 4 working days. With his 350mAH battery it doesn’t need to be charged every day. During its transmission the device uses up to 310mA. With an integrated accelerometer, NanoTracker can detect movement so that it can switch to enable/disable the modem and the GPS modem to preserve the battery in sleep mode. It can be charged via USB port while you do something on the PC.
The communication, that tell the device where it is, is GPS. The satellite locates the device location and sends him the location data. NanoTracker sends the location data via mobile phone network (2G) which goes further to the IoT Cloud platform in real-time. At the end, you can access those data at any moment with any device that has internet connection. The device can be configured and diagnosed via USB or SMS. Data includes: longitude, latitude, speed, date, time and battery voltage.
On the Cloud platform the user can define if-then rules. This future is useful for switching off the lights when nobody is at home.
The NanoTracker board is made with Python that enables software developers to make custom firmware for the device. The 2G Cellular module can be switched between 3G or 4G. On the board is a SIRF 4 GPS chipset providing the needed connection to the satellite. Transmission interval can be configured via USB, SMS and GPRS. The GPS module with SiRFstarIV technology enables indoor tracking thanks to its ultra-high sensitivity which is up to -163dBm.The protocol which is used for relaying the data to the server is via HTTP POST. Inside the housing is a Nano SIM Card Holder. The working temperature extends from -40°C to +85°C, providing a great temperature working range.
