Press Release Rapid Prototyping in 72 Hours
Dreieich, 18 Jan. 2008 (profact) – Round Solutions, a company specialized in machine2machine applications, has now developed the means to produce prototype cases within 72 hours. On the basis of 3-D data from all standard applications, Round Solutions produces cases for PDAs, POS terminals, mobile phones and tracking systems, to name only a few examples. The material used is a flexible polyamide and not the brittle epoxy resin commonly employed in stereo lithography. The individual layers are only 0.1 mm thick. According to Round Solutions, the costs for prototypes in mobile-phone formats range between 350 and 400 Euro. The target group for this new service includes product developers in the field of telecommunications, for whom Round Solutions offers a wide range of innovative components. These include the world’s smallest GPRS and GPS modules as well as highly miniaturized antennas. Since all modules are produced in surface mount technology (SMT), explains Harald Naumann, Technical Director at Round Solutions, circuit boards can be equipped by machines. This eliminates the need for time-consuming manual operations, which also means that it would make no sense to shift production to low-wage countries. “The possibility of combining our modules with Google Earth and Maps services is especially attractive”, Naumann adds. “Access to geo-data makes it possible to design favourably priced positioning equipment, for example.” Round Solutions has set up an online platform for this purpose at www.track4free.com. Developers can access Google services free of charge through this platform. “To provide technical support, we also operate a user forum on the subjects of GSM, GPRS, UMTS, CDMA and GPS modules”, explains Naumann. The forum, which can be accessed from the Round Solutions homepage (www.roundsolutions.com), now has more than 4000 members. “We even offer a free design and equipment test for premium customers”, notes Naumann, who also cites the free marketing service offered by his company, through which several thousand potential clients for development solutions can be reached.
