FTP filename extension

I have a question.

In the Telit Easy Gprs manual on page 23 they says that when you use the AT#FTPPUT command then you must have the right extension, but what can happen if you don't use a right extension ?..

in fact , not too bad thing can happen. It is only a warning about to transfer a file with the "rigth" extension to permit to the recipient to recognize which application is needed to open it
