Hello A.B.

Can you let us know if you are using R-GM862-GI or R-GM862-GE version?

Hello,

Please have a look here:

Important information for migration from GM862 to R-GM862

There are some AT commands you need to send to be able to read GPS coordinates. The R-GM862-GI doesn't support sending NMEA messages over the GPS TX pin. Only the R-GM862-GE does. You need to query the coordinates using an AT command.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mazen,
I'm trying to develop a firmware version where the code can be the same for the GM862-GPS and for the R-GM862.
I will insert the GPS command as reported in the migration document, but if I understand well I'd bought a wrong version of R-GM862.
The correct replacement for my firmware (where the GM862-GPS automatically send the NMEA message) is not the R-GM862-GI but the R-GM862-GE?

Hello AB,

Yes, it looks like you need to use the R-GM862-GE instead of the R-GM862-GI. Please contact our sales team to check how they can help you.

What are the full specifications and the hardware details of both modules?
Also what is the difference in both?
With which module you are using this module?
Also what type of interface require for these type of boards?

Hi AngusSwan,

you can find migration informations in the R-GM862 forum here .

We use Telit GE864-GPS modules on the replacement modules. This module is for existing projects, for new projects we recommend the Telit xE910 Series.

Regards,

Hüseyin
