The ANDY100 is a UHF RFID IC with advanced capabilities for developing battery-free sensor tags. The device features a master SPI port for communication with external devices and power outputs for driving those external devices from the energy harvested from the UHF RF field. The tag is compatible with EPC C1G2 RFID commercial readers. No custom hardware or custom commands are required. The ANDY100 is ideal for developing battery-free devices such as sensors, actuators or displays. These devices will help in asset or process monitoring applications as they provide a unique identification number plus data from the associated sensor without the need for batteries.
The Photon-LEDW703 is a UHF battery-free RF field detector. The device features an ASMT-SGB5-NW703 LED from Avago Technologies with a viewing angle of 120 degrees. The tag harvests energy from UHF radio frequency fields and flashes its LED depending on the energy harvested. No custom hardware or custom commands are required. The Photon-LEDW703 is ideal for visual identification of RF fields. The battery-free LED device lights up as soon as there is a field with enough strength in the area. It works for applications such as RFID reader commissioning or maintenance as the LED will tell you whether the RFID antenna is transmitting or not and at which level.
The Spider is an evaluation board for the ANDY100 UHF RFID IC. The Spider includes the ANDY100 chip and a start-up circuit to allow developers to work directly with SPI sensors or connect a microcontroller of their choice for further processing. Spider is thought for testing of the ANDY100 IC but can also be used to test multiple sensor, actuator or other devices. By balancing power consumption against read range, developers can easily test/prototype different ideas and create proof of concepts that can later on be implemented into final products.
